Don’t worry!  You can do this!  Here’s how:

The first thing you need to decide is how you want to mount your faux shade – inside or outside.  If you want to inside mount your faux shade, check to make sure that you have at least 1″ of space inside the window trim at the top in order to mount the velcro track hardware.

For an inside mount faux shade, get out your metal tape measure and measure the width of the window from inside the trim to inside the trim at the top and make sure to measure to the nearest 1/8″.  Then carefully measure the length of the window from inside the trim to inside the trim.  That’s it!  So easy!

We recommend the length of your faux shade to be 1/4 – 1/3 of the total length of your window.  For example, if your window is 45″ long your faux shade should be between 11.25″ – 15″ long finished.  Hold up your tape measure to see what length you love in your space!

For an outside mount shade, get out your metal tape measure and measure the width of the window from outside of the trim to outside of the trim, and then add 2″.  This will be your finished width.  Then carefully measure the length of the window from outside of the trim to outside of the trim and apply the formula above to figure out your desired finished length.  Ta daaa!

If all of this is making your head spin, then feel free to email us the dimensions on the faux shade measurement form below, along with a photo of your window, and let us figure it out for you!
